
Atatürk Boulevard
Atatürk Boulevard, connecting the Golden Horn and Saraçhane, is one of the most major axes of the Historical Peninsula. In addition to the buildings of the Republican Era such as the Istanbul Drapers Bazaar, Sedat Hakkı Eldem’s SGK building, and the Istanbul Municipality Palace on the boulevard, the Valens Aqueduct, St. There are important Byzantine period heritages such as the Polyeuktos Church. The design, which prioritizes continuous pedestrian and light vehicle circulation along the boulevard, also reflects historical layers such as the old Pervititch map lines onto the ground.

The existing condition, characterized by heavy traffic and disconnected building-road-pavement relationships, has been opened up to a transitional mixed-use by creating intermediate zones as shown in the principle sections. Through installation areas, scenery viewing steps, and green spaces, the aim is to encourage users to slow down and spend time in this historically significant and functionally diverse area.
The existing condition, characterized by heavy traffic and disconnected building-road-pavement relationships, has been opened up to a transitional mixed-use by creating intermediate zones as shown in the principle sections. Through installation areas, scenery viewing steps, and green spaces, the aim is to encourage users to slow down and spend time in this historically significant and functionally diverse area.



Existing trees on the street were preserved and a vegetative texture with minimal water needs was designed. At the same time, the cyclist and pedestrian arrangement was continued along the entire street.The typologies on the entire street were studied separately and the texture structure was organized in the historical area.

Throughout the 92,400 m2 project area, the existing layout of this boulevard that connects historical buildings and routes lacks cohesive and pedestrian-prioritized character, and this has been re-evaluated in the landscape design. The aim is to slow down pedestrian circulation in desired places and to offer small recreation areas for tourists and daily users through various buffer zones.
