Lookout | Reuse Italy
In the design competition aimed at refunctioning an abandoned observation tower on the Adriatic coast, the proposed project introduces a staircase that appears to float above the tower. This singular line drawn on the existing mass of the tower defines a strong contrast between the old and the modern layers.

The landscape structure surrounding the tower is defined by two perpendicular lines. One of these lines forms a continuous walking path along the coast, while the other extends toward the sea, creating a circulation route that rests on the existing rocks. The square, located at the intersection of these paths, serves as a flexible space where users can gather.

The strong cantilever beams extending from the tower's stone walls make it possible for the staircase structure, resting at both ends, to appear as if it is floating independently in the air. Built around an ambiguous spatial cue, the project aims to revive the tower’s original functionality, allowing it to once again gaze toward the horizon over the Adriatic.
